Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Vacations do not always have to be at loud places with big crowds.  Lying on the beach and going to amusements parks is a lot of fun, but there are plenty of places that you can go that has excitement and fun, only is a little bit quieter.  Going to Gatlinburg Tennessee can be fun and exciting.  It can also be beautiful, exhilarating and fulfilling.  There are many things to do in this gorgeous area, especially if you are an outdoor person. 

The most invigorating thing that you can do in Gatlinburg is go the Great Smokey Mountain National Park.  There are over 800 miles of hiking trails.  You can choose easy trails or harder ones depending on your experience and who you are hiking with.   Some individuals choose to take a hike during an afternoon, while others are hiking overnight or for a week.  If you are looking for a more educational hike, there are plenty of guided tours that you can go on.  The tour guides are very knowledgeable and can teach you a lot about trees, nature and the area itself.  The peacefulness and beauty of the scenery is something that can’t be described.  In order to appreciate it, you have to travel there yourself.

If you and your family love the outdoors enough to sleep eat and play in it, Gatlinburg has plenty of camping.  There are three facilities that you can set up camp in.  If you don’t want to get away from it all completely, they do have electricity, cable TV, running water and even a few pools.  There are even camping facilities in the Smoky Mountain National Park.  Pitch a tent and see what it was like before DVR’s, telephones and watching the late night TV.  The sounds of the wilderness may surprise you.  It can be more relaxing than listening to a show at three in the morning about new exercise equipment.

For those that can’t get enough of the great outdoors and are ready to bring home the big one that didn’t get away, try the fishing in Gatlinburg. Plenty of people have talked about the mountain trout that they have caught.  Get out there and catch one yourself.  There are many spots that you can fish in, including the streams that are running through the mountains.  Another great place to fish that has a little more room is Little Pigeon River in downtown Gatlinburg.  Many residents and visitors love this area.  Make sure that you have a fishing license before your drop your line.  They are very easy to get.  You can get a one day, two day or three day license, depending on how many fish you want to bring back to the campsite.  For a vacation you will never forget, go to Gatlinburg.
