See the Real Casey Jones at the Historic Casey Jones Home and Railroad Museum. One of the top travel destinations in Jackson, Tennessee is the Casey Jones Village, which includes the Historic Casey Jones Home and Railroad Museum. Many American legends exist, called tall tales by some. A few of the great tales are those of Pecos Bill, Paul Bunyan, and Casey Jones. However, the story of Jones is not just a piece of American mythology – it is a true story. He was a real life locomotive engineer killed when his passenger train struck a freight train.

At the museum, you can take a tour of Casey’s 1890s home, which was restored to look exactly as it did when he died in April of 1900. In the museum, you will also be able to see a number of different exhibits and artifacts from the era. You can also see a replica of the famous engine #382 and an 80-foot rail car.

In addition, they are currently building a re-creation of a train station from the late 1800s. With this impressive addition, they will be able to expand their already impressive collection of train related artifacts.

The museum also has a gift shop, where you can choose from among a variety of Casey Jones and locomotive related merchandise. The museum is open daily from 9AM to 5PM and admission is $3 for adults and seniors. Children 10 and under are free.

You will also be able to find tons more great things to do while you are at the Casey Jones Village. One of the most popular places to grab a tasty bite to eat is at the Old Country Store Restaurant. For desert, you can head on over to their 1890s Ice Cream Parlor.

You can also check out the amazing "Wildlife in the Wood" woodcarving studio, peruse antiques and do some shopping at the Old Country Store Gift Shoppe. You will find plenty of other shops to visit as well. The whole family will like playing a round of miniature golf at the Casey Jones Mini-Golf Course.
